Why Pokémon GO Lure Modules are Great for Small Businesses

Why Pokémon GO Lure Modules are Great for Small Businesses.jpg

Since its release, Pokémon GO has taken the world by storm as people of all ages have come together to “catch ’em all.” Pokémon GO is a free mobile gaming app for iOS and Android smartphones that allows players to play the Pokémon games in a whole new way. Thanks to Niantic’s real-world gaming platform, the app uses actual locations for exploring and capturing Pokémon, collecting items at PokéStops, and battling against others at PokéGyms. Not only does this game benefit players by encouraging them to exercise, socialize, and explore their surroundings, it has also greatly benefited small businesses. How? We at Blogging Rubbish are here to tell you why Pokémon GO is great for small businesses.

If your business happens to be a PokéStop on the game, you have probably noticed people stopping by while on their phones and leaving shortly after. Chances are they are playing Pokémon GO and were just collecting items that PokéStops drop in-game. While that might seem good for business, the real benefit comes when you use an item called a Lure Module. Lure Modules are items that, once activated at a PokéStop, will cause random Pokémon to spawn for those playing the game at your location. One Lure Module lasts for 30 minutes and once it is activated it is sure to attract nearby players as it appears on their game’s map.

Lure Modules can be purchased in-game, and has the option of either buying one Lure Module for 100 PokéCoins or eight Lure Modules for 680 PokéCoins. You can get PokéCoins by purchasing them in-game with the following options:

  • 100 PokéCoins – $0.99
  • 550 PokéCoins – $4.99
  • 1,200 PokéCoins – $9.99
  • 2,500 PokéCoins – $19.99
  • 5,200 PokéCoins – $39.99
  • 14,500 PokéCoins – $99.99

Let’s say you don’t even have a PokéStop at your business but you would like to get in on some of the benefits. Print up some flyers or bring a sandwich board to your nearest PokéStop that says this “Lure is on us” with your website or business’s name on it. It is simple, cheap, and memorable.

Remember: PokéStops may attract people to stop by, but Lure Modules convince them to stay.

6 Things You Need to Become a ‘Pokémon Go’ Master!

6 Things You Need to Play 'Pokémon GO'!.jpgThis post contains affiliate links to keep the lights on and so we can catch them all.

If you’re playing Pokémon GO (and who are we kidding, everyone is), you know that the only REAL requirement is a compatible smartphone. That doesn’t mean you can’t bring a few extras with you to make the game even more enjoyable.

Here are six things you need to play Pokémon GO.

1. Portable Battery Charger

As you’ve probably already learned, this game is a real battery-drainer. A portable charger like the Native Union JUMP Cable is your best friend here. It’s basically a charge cable with its own built-in battery pack!

They offer a Lightning version for iPhone and a micro-USB version for Android phones.

2. Flashlight

Sometimes that one Pokémon you’ve been looking for only pops up at night. If you’re going to do a little nighttime hunting, it helps to have a flashlight. You can use the built-in flashlight on your smartphone, or for something a little more powerful (but still portable), check out the LED Lenser T7 Tactical Flashlight. It gives off a lot of light for its size.

3. Headphones

Whether you’re listening to the in-game audio while playing, or jamming to your favorite music playlist while hatching eggs in incubators, or even catching up on a podcast, there’s no sense bugging others around you with noise. Bring some headphones like the Jaybird X2 wireless sport headphones to keep the audio to yourself.

4. Water Bottle

If you’re playing out in the summer heat, it’s important to stay hydrated. Keep a water-filled Camelbak Eddy Bottle on hand. It’s spill-resistant, sports a built-in straw so you don’t have to tip the bottle to drink, and the loop-cap makes it easy to carry around.

5. Sunscreen

Protecting your skin from the sun is just as important as staying hydrated. Pick up a bottle of Sun Bum Continuous Spray Sunscreen SPF 70 and thank us later.

6. A Sense of Adventure

That’s right, it’s not all about cool products. Pokémon GO is all about exploration, so you’ll want to bring along a sense of adventure as you check out tons of new spots, including museums, memorials, and historic markers. Have fun out there!

Don’t forget to stay safe! Make sure you read my article 4 TIPS FOR STAYING SAFE WHILE PLAYING ‘POKÉMON GO’

4 Tips for Staying Safe While Playing ‘Pokémon GO’

4 Tips for Staying Safe While Playing.jpg

To say that Pokémon GO has become a worldwide phenomenon is a massive understatement.

It seems like everywhere you go these days, you’ll find large groups of people walking around, phone in hand, capturing those cute little pocket monsters, talking to each other about tips and strategies, or perhaps battling back and forth for control of a local gym. This game has practically changed society overnight.

While the game is a lot of fun (and more than a little addictive), any game that draws so many people together in public places is certain to draw out the bad element at times, like it or not.

Here are four tips to stay safe out there while you collect ’em all.

1. Stay Aware of Your Surroundings

Walking around staring at your phone screen, especially in populated areas, is risky business at the best of times. While playing Pokémon GO, you need to make sure you don’t accidentally wander into traffic, or walk off a pier, etc. Pay even more attention to your environment than usual, if you must.

2. Capture with Friends

Pokémon GO is, after all, designed to be a social game, so it’s best if you bring along a friend or two to accompany you while playing. You can not only help one another be aware of your surroundings, but a group walking together is less likely to be targeted by bad guys and Team Rocket.

3. Avoid Lures in Sketchy Places

As inviting as that 1:00am Pokéstop lure in the middle of the woods seems, it might have been set up by someone looking for trouble. Don’t be…well, lured into a bad situation just to nab a few extra Pokéballs. It’s not worth it.

4. Don’t Trespass on Private Property

While it’s tempting to jump a fence to snatch up a rare Pokémon, you don’t have a right to enter someone’s private property to do so. Don’t sneak around strangers’ back yards, or trespass on government property where you’re not allowed to be.

Keep these tips in mind and stay safe out there, trainers!

Sometimes finding the right thing to show off your geekery is hard. Maybe you want something cool for your desk at the office, or maybe just want something fun to look at next to your desktop. Either way, keep reading to find out about three new fun products to show off your geekery.

For fans of the new Fallout installment, this Vault 111 mouse and headphone set is the perfect, eye-catching product for your desk. Compatible with any operating system, the mouse is designed for a gamer. It features an optical sensor for pixel-perfect precision, game-reactive lighting, and a rubberized coating for a better grip. If you don’t want to proclaim what fandom you are a part of that’s totally fine. There are tons of geeky items that you can enjoy. For instance, how about a chainsaw proof iPhone charging cable? Yes, you read that right. No more broken chargers or exposed wires where the rubber wore down. This Titan cable can withstand even a chainsaw attacking it, making it more durable than you during the zombie apocalypse. ivpv_titan_charging_cable

The newest Star Wars movie has almost everyone craving new merch regardless if they liked the film or not. Have these Star Wars Geeki Tikis on your desk and you’ll have everyone around staring with envy. With enough options to make it hard to choose, they have Boba Fett, Chewbacca, Darth Vader, R2-D2, a Stormtrooper, and Yoda available. I’d suggest buying extras because you know someone’s going to want to “borrow” one.

Video Game News/Reviews: Dark Souls III

Video Game News-Reviews- Dark Souls III.jpgBoasting about 30 hours of game play, Dark Souls III is basically par for the course when it comes to the Dark Souls brand. If you are a fan of the relatively difficult learning curve, the lush backgrounds and the epic boss fights, you will definitely feel at home here. When it comes to the basic tenets of Dark Souls, if it is not broken, don’t fix it.

DARKSOUL_facebook_mini

However, there are enough good new features in Dark Souls III to keep even the most jaded players coming back for more. The featured game mechanic, the new weapon ability, give the player new ways to melee or crowd control with the slightly sped up combat. It seems that the developers listened to the critiques of players who felt that the first two Dark Souls were slightly defensive and slow. The action has definitely been sped up here to create a more manic atmosphere.

Graphics have not been upgraded drastically; you will notice some hiccups in the admittedly great backgrounds when the screen fills up with enemies. This is slightly disappointing considering that the base frame rate is 30 fps, not 60. However, the immersive plot of the game may keep you enticed even when the technical problems occur.

One of the biggest critiques of the Dark Souls III is that it too closely resembles last year’s breakthrough adventure game Bloodborne, with some of the enemy types seemingly lifted straight from that game. This is potentially frustrating if you are a hardcore fan of the genre as a whole.

Need For Speed – One of the Best Racing Franchises of All Time

Need For Speed or popularly known as NFS, is a racing video game. The first game in the series, titled The Need For Speed, was released in the year 1994. Till now, the franchise has released around 26 installments of the game. All installments of the series consist of racing cars on different tracks. Several of the titles include police pursuits in races as well. NFS is the most successful racing video game in the world. More than 150 million copies of games in the series have been sold to date.

Almost all of the games in the Need For Speed series has the same basic rules and similar mechanics. You control a race car in a variety of races. The goal is, of course, to win the race. In the career/tournament mode, you must win a series of races in order to unlock tracks and vehicles. You have the option to choose your car before each race. You also have the option to opt for manual or automatic transmission. NFS offers some form of multiplayer mode in almost all the installments. You can race another player via a split screen. You can race other players via LAN or Internet as well.

The tone and focus of each game in the series can vary significantly. For example, in some games, the cars may suffer visual and mechanical damage while in others, the cars do not get damaged at all.

New Free PSN Game to Fall For

Spluncker isn’t a new game. The original came out in 1983 on the Atari. It has made a comeback on the PSN.

Square Enix has just released a free-to-play version and it is a great time. I have been playing it for the past week and it has been fun.

The solo play is okay but playing with others is the best. You can play up to 6 others and that is what really hooked me.

This is no game of Mario though. You can’t just jump around or you will kill yourself… a lot. However, you have to jump off of all mechanisms that you might cross or you die. Lets just say you will die many many times and that is why you should play with others.

Last note, don’t be a jerk and work as a team. I give this a 7 out of 10.

Check out the video here.
